Top Performers - Running Backs

Today we take a look at some of the top JUCO tailback performances from last week including a pair of Fullerton runners who took home co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns in a big 45-23 win over Bakersfield...

Fullerton RB Ryan Byrd - Byrd had 273 yards and one touchdown (a 75-yard run) on 25 carries as the Hornets got a 45-23 win over Bakersfield last weekend. In three games this season, the sophomore tailback has 453 yards and two scores on 50 touches.

Fullerton RB Lavorrie Johnson - The sophomore wasn't about to be outdone by his teammate as he totaled 201 yards and three touchdowns on just 13 carries in Fullerton's 45-23 blowout win over Bakersfield.

Compton RB Kevin Lane - Lane totaled 225 all-purpose yards including 197 yards rushing on 27 carries and a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 19 yards and had a 9-yard punt return, but Compton still lost to Santa Barbara 27-24.

Riverside RB Anthony Knight - Knight totaled 116 yards and a touchdown as Riverside downed Saddleback, 38-31.

Mt. San Antonio RB Jamal Overton - Overton carried the ball 15 times for 85 yards with two touchdowns and had seven catches for another 65 yards as the Mounties got a 45-21 win over Cerritos. In three games, the sophomore tailback has put up 306 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while posting 12 receptions for 83 yards.

East Los Angeles RB Naaman Young - Young powered his way to 141 yards on 23 carries and helped propel the Huskies to their first win on the season, a 21-20 win over West Los Angeles in overtime.

DeAnza RB Kaelum Harvey - Harvey broke out with 109 yards on 15 carries in the Dons' 39-7 win over Cabrillo last weekend.

City College of San Francisco RB Daivon Ballard - Ballard rushed for 145 yards and two scores on 15 touches in the Rams' 59-14 win over West Hills last weekend. In three games, Ballard has racked up 308 yards and three touchdowns.

Victor Valley RB Verrick Ponder - Ponder carried the ball 16 times for 122 yards and a touchdown as the Rams got to 2-1 on the season with a 48-28 win over L.A. Southwest.

Hartnell RB DeAndre Mann - Mann totaled 102 yards and two scores on 18 carries and he also had two receptions for 28 yards and another score as Hartnell ran away from Mendocino by a score of 41-6. So far this season, Mann has rushed for 307 yards and six touchdowns while hauling in nine receptions for 96 yards and two more scores.

Iowa Western RB Akise Teague - Teague had 175 yards and two scores as the Reivers downed College of DuPage 33-0 last Saturday.

Fort Scott RB Jonathan Alford - The freshman was the workhorse for the Greyhounds last week, toting the rock 39 times for 237 yards nad a touchdown in Fort Scott's 37-36 loss to Dodge City last week. In five games, Alford has carried the ball 127 times for 475 yards with two touchdowns.

Georgia Military RB Jovon Robinson - Robinson handled the ball 10 times and totaled 177 yards and four touchdowns as GMC got to 5-0 with a 44-16 win over Arkansas Baptist last week. In five games, Robinson has totaled 907 yards and 12 scores on 99 carries.

Dodge City RB Tyreis Thomas - Thomas had another big game for the Conqs, totaling 166 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries while also hauling in eight receptions for 75 yards. The sophomore has 572 yards and nine touchdowns in five games so far this season and is a big reason why Dodge City is 4-1 this season.

Tyler RB Leroy Dobbins - Dobbins rushed for 152 yards in Tyler's 31-28 win over Blinn last week.

New Mexico Military RB Greg Morris - Another talented freshman who is making a name for himself, Morris had 136 yards on 22 carries as the Broncos got a 24-13 win over Eastern Arizona last weekend.
