Top Performers - Defensive Linemen

Here is a look at some of the top performances from JUCO defensive lineman last week and how they have fared over the first month of the season...

Trinity Valley DE Duval Jackson - Jackson had 11 tackles (all solo), three sacks, two tackles-for-loss and two quarterback hurries and TVC got to 2-2 on the season with a 49-21 win over Cisco.

Trinity Valley DE Karl Thomas - Like his teammate, Thomas also had a big day in the Cardinals' 49-21 win over Cisco, totaling 10 tackles (all solo) with two tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Louisburg DE Justus Hoffman - In Louisburg's 19-18 win over Lackawanna, Hoffman posted eight tackles (six solo), two sacks and 3.5 tackles-for-loss.

Dean DE Bill Sturgis - Stugis racked up 10 tackles (four solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack as Dean downed Hudson Valley 20-17.

Itawamba DE Larry Jefferson - In Itawamba's 13-10 win over Holmes, Jefferson had six tackles (four solo), two sacks, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and one forced fumble.

Copiah-Lincoln DE Carroll Phillips - Phillips totaled 10 tackles (seven solo), one sack and two tackles-for-loss as Co-Lin got a 19-10 win over Hinds.

Phoenix College DE Rashad Baker - Although Phoenix College lost to Glendale by a score of 31-26, Baker still managed to post five tackles (four tackles), two sacks and a forced fumble.

Nassau DT Lance McDowdell - McDowdell had five tackles (three solo) and 2.5 tackles-for-loss in the Lions' 23-6 win over Erie last weekend. In four games, the 6'5", 305-pounder has totaled 18 tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks.

Iowa Central DE Jareid Combs - Combs had 11 tackles (four solo), a sack and a tackle-for-loss, but Iowa Central still dropped their game to Ellsworth by a score of 14-10.

Sacramento DT David Weider - The sophomore had 10 tackles (three solo) and 1.5 tackles-for-loss in the Panthers' 35-21 loss to Santa Rosa. In three games, Weider has posted 26 tackles (13 solo), 2.5 sacks and nine tackles-for-loss.

College of San Mateo DT Rika Levi - The gifted 6'3, 325-pounder was one-man wrecking crew in the Bulldogs' 14-7 win over Diablo Valley last week as he totaled seven tackles (five solo), four tackles-for-loss and three sacks while also registering a quarterback hurry.

Gavilan DT Jeff Baker - The freshman had eight tackles (all solo), one tackle-for-loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in Gavilan's 44-32 loss to Contra Costa last weekend.

American River DE Jordan Carrell - In ARC's 33-13 win over Chabot last weekend, Carrell posted nine tackles (five solo), six tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Grossmont DT Augie Lugo - Lugo had seven tackles, three tackles-for-loss and ½ a sack in Grossmont's 39-14 loss to Citrus last weekend.

San Bernardino DE John Siliga - In San Bernardino's 42-21 win over Santa Monica, Siliga had a game-high four sacks to go along with 12 tackles (six solo), six tackles-for-loss and a fumble recovery.

Cerritos DT David Moala - The Arizona State bounceback has had a solid start to his season so far and last week he had eight tackles (five solo), a sack and a tackle-for-loss, but Cerritos still fell to 1-2 on the season with a 45-21 loss to Mt. San Antonio.

Santa Ana DE Billy Tanuvasa - Tanuvasa was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after he finished with 13 tackles (six solo), 4.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack, but the Donds still lost to Moorpark by a score of 17-10.

L.A. Valley DE Tamale Niua - In Valley's 30-14 win over Mt. San Jacinto, finished with four tackles, two tackles-for-loss and one sack.

Moorpark DE Johnny Stewart - The Colorado bounceback was named the Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Week after racking up five tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and five quarterback hurries in Moorpark's 17-10 win over Santa Ana.
