Top Performers - Linebackers

Here is our weekly look at some of the top JUCO linebacker performances from this past weekend's games and an update on how several are faring so far this season...

Fort Scott LB Christian Murphy - The freshman posted a team leading nine tackles (four solo) and 1.5 tackles-for-loss, but Fort Scott still dropped their game with Garden City by a score of 33-14.


Garden City LB Dvonta Derricott - Derricot, who has committed to Kansas State, had a game-high 13 tackles (12 solo), one tackle-for-loss and an interception in the Broncbusters' 33-14 win over Fort Scott. In four games, Derricott has posted 35 tackles, one tackle-for-loss and two interceptions while helping to lead Garden City to a 4-1 record.


Hutchinson LB Brock Long - Long racked up seven tackles (six solo) and three tackles-for-loss in Hutchinson's 36-20 win over Highland. The sophomore leads the Blue Dragons with 46 tackles while posting 4.5 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble as well.


Hutchinson LB Darius Wright - The freshman had a big game for the Blue Dragons last weekend as he totaled six tackles (five solo), three tackles-for-loss and one sack in Hutch's 36-20 win over Highland. So far this season, Wright has posted 21 tackles, one sack, six tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble.


Mississippi Gulf Coast LB Trey Wafford - Wafford had 12 tackles (eight solo), two sacks and two tackles-for-loss in the Bulldogs' 28-14 win over Northeast Mississippi. In five games this season, the sophomore has posted 43 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception.


Northeast Mississippi LB Jamel Dennis - Dennis had 13 tackles (eight solo) and two tackles-for-loss, but Northeast Mississippi still dropped their game with Mississippi Gulf Coast by a score of 28-14. In five games this season, the freshman has posed 53 tackles, three sacks and six tackles-for-loss.


Northeast Mississippi LB Marcus Robinson - In Northeast Mississippi's 28-14 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast, the freshman had 13 tackles (seven solo), tying for the game-high. On five games, while sharing duties in the linebacker rotation, Robinson has totaled 35 tackles and two tackles-for-loss.


Nassau LB George Williams - Williams posted a team-high eight tackles (six solo), one sack, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and one pass break-up. The freshman, who signed with Louisiana out of high school, has posted 25 tackles and three sacks.


Dean LB Jason Sylva - The sophomore linebacker posted 15 tackles (seven solo), 1.5 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble in Dean's 24-17 loss to Louisburg. In four games , Sylva has posted 35 tackles (20 solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception and one forced fumble.


College of DuPage LB Devin Coney - In the Chaparrals' 17-9 win over Ellsworth, Coney posted 14 tackles (eight solo), two sacks and two tackles-for-loss. The freshman has posted 49 tackles (31 solo), four sacks and one forced fumble in five games so far this season while leading College of DuPage to a 3-2 record.


El Camino LB Kristopher Bass Bass had 15 tackles (seven solo), ½ a sack and three tackles-for-loss as El Camino got a thrilling 35-33 win over Long Beach. In four games, the sophomore has 43 tackles, a sack, six tackles-for-loss and an interception while helping to lead the Warriors to a 3-1 record.


Long Beach LB Cale Dester Dester had a team-leading 13 tackles (nine solo) and a tackle-for-loss, but Long Beach still dropped a heart-breaker to El Camino by a score of 35-33. In three games, the sophomore has totaled 26 tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss.


Long Beach LB Corey Waller In the Vikings' 35-33 loss to El Camino, Waller, a Washington bounceback, posted six tackles (five solo), one sack and two tackles-for-loss.


L.A. Harbor LB Daniel Torres Torres finished with eight tackles (five solo), a sack, a tackle-for-loss and an interception in Harbor's 71-0 loss to Riverside last week.


Mt. San Antonio LB Elijah Lagafuaina In Mt. San Antonio's thrilling 33-32 win over Citrus, Lagafuaina led the way with 13 tackles (eight solo) and three tackles-for-loss.


Chaffey LB Lenier Lee Lee notched 12 tackles (five solo), one tackle-for-loss and an interception in Chaffey's big 39-28 win over Victor Valley last weekend.


Bakersfield LB Grant Campbell In the Gades' 24-16 loss to Ventura, the sophomore tackling-machine had 11 tackles (five solo), one sack and one tackle-for-loss. In four games, Campbell has totaled 47 tackles (21 solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks.


Feather River LB Will Johnson Johnson had seven tackles (four solo), two sacks and two tackles-for-loss in the Golden Eagles' 41-28 win over Merced.


Foothill LB Ikaika Gunderson Gunderson had 16 tackles (10 solo), but Foothill still dropped to 2-2 on the season with a 37-36 loss to College of the Sequoias. In four games so far this season, the sophomore has totaled 35 tackles (26 solo), four tackles-for-loss and an interception.


College of the Sequoias LB Eddie Walker In the Giants' 37-36 win over Foothill last weekend, Walker totaled eight tackles (three solo), one sack, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and a fumble recovery.


San Joaquin Delta LB Dashaun Perkins Perkins had 11 tackles (six solo), but the Mustangs still dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 45-3 loss to Butte.


Gavilan LB Dillon Babb Babb had 10 tackles (six solo), one sack and a tackle-for-loss as Gavilan bested College of the Redwoods 33-29.


College of the Redwoods LB Aisea Tavae In CR's 33-29 loss to Gavilan, Tavae had 11 tackles (six solo), one sack and two tackles-for-loss.
