A Look Back at Week 10's Top Matchups

It took six overtimes but No. 8 Butler edged out a 19-16 win over No. 18 Hutchinson to clinch the KJCCC regular season title. Tied 13-13 at the end of regulation, both teams hit field goals in the first overtime and followed up with a combined eight missed field goals in the succeeding periods. Sophomore kicker Robert Rawlings hit the game-winning 21-yard field goal to give Butler their 22nd consecutive victory over the Blue Dragons. Grizzlies sophomore running back Ty Suggs carried the load with 27 rushes for 124 yards and a touchdown. With the win, Butler has tied the all-time series record with Hutchinson at 44-44-1. Both teams advance to the conference playoffs this week with Butler hosting Highland, while Hutchinson heads to No. 18 Dodge City.

No. 11 Central Lakes picked up a crucial victory in the first round of the MCAC playoffs with a 55-26 win over No. 20 Minnesota West. Defensively, the Raiders forced five turnovers in the victory with four interceptions and a fumble. Central Lakes sophomore running backs Taz Seibert and Blake Petrich matched each other's rushing efforts with 86 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders will hit the road for the conference semifinals as the play at Northland Saturday.

#2 East Mississippi (9-0) 59


No. 2 East Mississippi capped off their perfect regular season with a 59-13 rout of Itawamba. The Lions executed a balanced attack, racking up 375 yards passing and 350 yards rushing. Sophomore quarterback Dontreal Pruitt led the effort, throwing for 349 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 94 yards and another score. Sophomore running back Lakenderic Thomas added 117 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. As both teams head to the MACJC playoffs, Itawamba heads to Jones County and East Mississippi hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast in a Top 5 matchup.
