Top Performers - Quarterbacks

Some of the top JUCO quarterbacks had huge games this past weekend, foremost among that group was Grossmont's William Abt whose big day still wasn't enough in the Griffs loss to Fullerton. Here's a detailed report on his afternoon as well as some of the other top performances from junior college signal-callers over the weekend...

Grossmont QB William Abt - Even with Abt having a career day throwing the ball – 31 of 57 for 533 yards with three touchdowns and an interception – the Griffs still dropped their game with Fullerton by a score of 79-44. This season, the freshman has completed 59% of his passes for 2,814 yards with 27 touchdowns and six interceptions.


College of San Mateo QB Casey Wichman - Yeah, Wichman didn't have a very good day throwing the ball, going just 3 of 13 for 58 yards with an interception, but he carried the ball 14 times for 130 yards including one that he went 93 yards for a touchdown, but CSM still lost their game with Butte by a score of 28-20.


Citrus QB Larry Cutbirth - Cutbirth had a big game in Citrus' 42-28 win over El Camino on Saturday as he went 23 of 37 for 308 yard and four touchdowns with no interceptions. While leading the Owls to a 5-3 record, the freshman has completed over 61% of his passes for 1,901 yards with 23 touchdowns and four interceptions. Cutbirth is also a pretty good runner as he's rushed for 231 yards and a team-leading eight touchdowns on the ground.


Los Medanos QB Adam Nesheim - Nesheim went 13 of 20 for 147 yards with a touchdown and an interception while rushing for a game-high 143 yards on 13 carries in Los Medanos' 42-19 win over College of the Redwoods.


L.A. Pierce QB Nick Arbuckle - In Pierce's 22-13 win over Antelope Valley, Arbuckle went 27 of 42 for 358 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. While leading the Brahmas to a 7-1 record, the sophomore has completed 58.5% of his passes for 2,063 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.


Glendale QB Sean Murphy - In the Vaqueros' 28-11 win over Los Angeles Valley last weekend, Murphy went 27 of 40 for 327 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. While leading his team to a 5-3 record, the freshman has completed over 57% of his passes for 1,911 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.


Saddleback QB Tim Belman - The sophomore went 33-of-46 for 372 yards and five touchdowns in the Gauchos' 45-17 win over Palomar on Saturday. The sophomore signal-caller has completed 64.4% of his passes for 3,230 yards with 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions and is only 14 completions short of the national record of 357.


Long Beach QB Kenny Potter - The freshman hit on 31 of his 56 attempts with three touchdowns and two interceptions in Long Beach's 43-35 loss to Mt. San Antonio. This season, Potter has been a dynamic playmaker for the Vikings as he's completed nearly 65% of his passes for 2,257 yards with 20 touchdowns and just five picks while rushing for 570 yards and 12 touchdowns.


College of the Canyons QB Tony Dawson - Dawson went 9 of 18 for 157 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 85 yards and three scores in the Cougars' 35-17 win over Moorpark last weekend.


American River QB Jake Bist - The freshman went 30 of 53 for 428 yards with three touchdowns and three picks as the Beavers lost to Modesto 43-42.



Modesto QB TeeJay Gordon - Gordon went 27 of 30 for 290 yard with a touchdown and an interception while also rushing for 26 yards and three more scores in Modesto's thrilling 43-42 win over American River last weekend. The sophomore has completed 67.6% of his passes so far this season for 1,947 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions while rushing for 335 yards and 10 touchdowns.


Scottsdale QB Blake Decker - Decker's huge day -- 28 of 44 for 479 yards with seven touchdowns and an interception -- was integral in the Aritchokes' 56-21 win over Eastern Arizona. This season, while leading Scottsdale to a 8-1 record, the sophomore signal-caller has completed nearly 60% of his passes for 3,809 yards with 42 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for 308 yards and three more scores.


Mesa QB Blake Kemp - Kemp went 48 of 67 for 442 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions in Mesa's 48-31 win over New Mexico Military on Sunday. This season, while leading Mesa to an 8-1 record, the sophomore has completed 65.2% of his passes for 2,869 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He's also rushed for 123 yards and three more scores.


Trinity Valley QB Ryan Polite - Polite completed 24 of his 39 pass attempts for 304 yards and three scores while he also rushed for 26 yards and another touchdown in TVC's 38-7 win over Blinn. This season, while leading his team to a 8-2 record, the sophomore has completed 66.3% of his passes for 3,018 yards with 29 touchdowns and just eight interceptions while he's also rushed for 231 yards and five more scores.


North Dakota State College of Science QB Jared Etienne - Etienne went 24 of 48 for 411 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in Wildcats' 30-21 win over Dakota College at Bottineau.


East Mississippi QB Dontreal Pruitt - Pruitt completed 27 of his 41 attempts for 304 yards and four touchdowns and he rushed for 33 yards and another score in the Lions' 45-28 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast. This season, the talented sophomore has completed 67.3% of his passes for 3,399 yards with 40 touchdowns and just four picks while he's also rushed for 455 yards and six more touchdowns.


Central Lakes QB Andrew Johnson - Johnson completed 16 of his 37 attemtps for 317 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 14 yards and another score in Central Lakes' 33-6 win over Northland Community & Technical College.
