Things pick up for Chaffey OT

A JUCO offensive lineman that has seen things on the recruiting front start to pick up over the past few weeks is Chaffey OT Kyle Wright (6-7, 300). He's received offers from six programs so far and he updated JCFootball.com on that as well as his plans over the next few weeks...

"I have offers from UT-San Antonio, San Jose State, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic and Northwestern State," Wright told JCFootball.com recently. "I've been talking a lot with schools like Northern Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas State, Idaho, Fresno State and Wyoming too, so things have definitely been picking up for me."

With five official visits at his disposal, Wright said he'd like to take all or most of them and has already scheduled a trip to San Jose State for the final weekend of November.

"It's all been pretty crazy, but I also need to stay focused on my season and make sure I'm playing the best I can too," Wright said.

The talented lineman started all but two games as a freshman in 2012 and this season he hasn't missed a game, holding down the right tackle spot for the 7-1 Panthers.

"I'm good at both pass and run-blocking, but I probably just feel more comfortable as a run-blocker," Wright said. "I can do both pretty well, but as a run-blocker, you can just fire off and hit guys and with my increased strength since I got here and my technique, I'm probably just more comfortable run-blocking if I had to choose."

Wright enjoyed a solid prep career at Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.) High School, but was unable to qualify, so he decided to go the JC route and it was an easy choice for him on which program to choose.

"Well, Chaffey was closest to my home, so that made it pretty easy, but I really liked the coaches and the program here too," Wright said.

He is on pace to finish up his AA degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2013 football season.
