JCFootball.com Recruiting Blog - 12/12

We're less than a week away from the beginning of the mid-year signing period for JUCO prospects, so things are getting pretty hectic on the recruiting front. Here's a look at some of the latest news and notes on some of the top prospects that we've been able to gather...

Ventura QB Brad Odeman - Ventura head coach Steve Mooshagian informed JCFootball.com that Odeman will visit San Diego State this weekend. While he's still waiting on an offer from the Aztecs, if things go well, he could wind up getting one on his trip. The talented gun-slinger does have an offer from Northern Colorado and was getting a lot of interest from Georgia State. This season, while leading the Pirates to a 6-5 record, Odeman completed 61.6% of his passes for 3,293 yards with 28 touchdowns and 13 interceptions and he rushed for 286 yards and five more scores.

Iowa Western OT Sebastian Tretola - As the season progressed, there wasn't a JUCO prospect whose stock rose faster and higher than Tretola who claims over a dozen offers. The former Nevada signee dominated the competition and with his quick feet and nasty attitude, he's ideal in almost any system and scheme. He's already visited Oklahoma, South Florida, TCU and Texas Tech and it's unclear on where he plans to visit this weekend for his final visit. He will sign with a school next week and will have three years to play two starting this coming fall.

Itawamba WR Hakeem Flowers - The North Carolina State bounceback chose to commit to Nicholls State after hauling in six receptions for 35 yards this past season.

Itawamba LB Carderious Dean - The talented linebacker has a visit scheduled to North Texas this weekend. Expect the Mean Green to go out of their way to haul in the sure-tackling linebacker who totaled 68 tackles, one sack and five tackles-for-loss this past season.

Itawamba WR Sanford Seay - Seay is pondering offers from Illinois and Louisiana Tech and should be making his decision this weekend. He signed with Georgia out of high school, so it's no surprise that schools are after him pretty hard.

Itawamba OT Kyle Harris - The former South Carolina signee will visit Arkansas State this weekend and he will decide between them and Marshall which he visited recently as well.

Snow TE Landon Horne - Horne has offers from Indiana State, Missouri State and Florida A&M after posting a team-leading 39 receptions for 406 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman for the Badgers this past season.

Highland DT Marcus Smith - Smith's stock has been steadily on the rise since the conclusion of the season that saw him post 49 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 8 tackles-for-loss. He recently was offered by Texas Tech and already had offers from UAB and Western Kentucky.

Pasadena DE Dale Pierson - This is a player to keep an eye on over the next week. Pierson finished with 11.5 sacks and 19 tackles-for-loss while also posting 48 tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and has attracted offers from the likes of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, California, Colorado State, Fresno State, Indiana, Iowa State, Middle Tennessee, Troy and Arizona and should be making his decision shortly. He'll have three years to play two starting next fall.

College of San Mateo S Sam Atoe - Atoe had a huge season for the Bulldogs, posting 41 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, 1 blocked punt. He's picked up offers from California, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, TCU and Texas Tech. He'll visit Cal this weekend and the feeling on our part is that the Golden Bears have to be considered the favorite at this point.
