Moala contemplates trips

As one of the top JUCO run-stuffers in the state, Cerritos DT David Moala (6-2, 310) was a prospect that four-year schools targeted early in the recruiting process. Now that his sophomore season is completed, he's been contemplating which of his suitors that he will visit and he updated JCFootball.com on where things stand...

"Right now, I still don't have any firm plans set up for visits yet," Moala told JCFootball.com. "I've been talking to a lot of schools, but I haven't gotten around to setting up my visits yet.

"I'm looking at visiting Iowa State and probably Kansas State after the start of the year. I will probably take those two visits and then I will look at see which other schools I want to see before I make my decision.

"To be honest, I've been more focused on my classes and getting my academics in order because at the end of the day it all begins with school and I need to make sure that's in order before I worry about football."

Moala currently boasts offers from both the Cyclones and the Wildcats as well as Cincinnati, Hawaii and Houston.

Moala signed with Arizona State out of high school, but with the changeover from Dennis Erickson to Todd Graham, he left and enrolled at Cerritos back in 2012.

As a redshirt freshman with the Falcons back in 2012, Moala totaled 49 tackles, four sacks and 7.5 tackles-for-loss and he followed that up with solid sophomore season that saw him post 55 tackles, four sacks, eight tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception.

He is on pace to finish up his academic work in May and he will have two years to play two starting in the fall of 2014.
