Trips On Hand For Taiese

Now that his sophomore season has concluded, one of the top JUCO linemen in California, Laney OT Wendell (6-5, 330), has turned is focus toward recruiting and he will visit a Big 12 school this weekend...

"Things went well this season," Taiese told JCFootball.com. "I had a really good season. I earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors and I've got a lot of schools looking at me right now."

Taiese currently holds offers from Iowa State, Fresno State, Kansas, Cincinnati and Texas State and he will be in Ames (Ia.) this weekend to see what the Cyclones have to offer.

"All of the schools like me as a tackle, but I can play almost anywhere," Taiese admitted. "I'm looking at scheduling the rest of my trips after the start of the year, so that's something I will work on once I get back from Iowa State."

As a prep, Taiese signed with Washington State, but was unable to qualify, so he headed to Arizona Western where he played in 2011 as a freshman, but then he decided to transfer closer to home and take care of a high school injury that had been giving him fits for a couple of years.

"I had torn the labrum in my left shoulder back in high school and I just battled through it and toughed it out, but eventually it just got to the point where I needed to get it taken care of," Taiese said. "I also decided to come closer to my home and Laney was a good fit, so I sat out last year (2012) and got a medical redshirt so it didn't hurt my eligibility."

Taiese is on pace to finish up his AA degree in May and he will have three years to play two starting next fall.
