Whiteley commits to Texas

One of the top JUCO tight ends in the country, Arizona Western's Blake Whiteley (6-5, 245), made a commitment recently to Texas and will enroll there soon...

Whiteley's father, Peter, emailed JCFootball.com to inform us of his son's decision to commit to Texas.

Whiteley took visits to see the Longhorns along with Arkansas, Purdue and Virginia and also had offers from Bowling Green, Colorado State, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico, South Florida, Southern Miss, TCU, Troy, Utah State, UTEP and West Virginia.

As a senior at West Vancouver Secondary in Vancouver, British Columbia, Whiteley showed off his amazing receiving skills by hauling in 70 passes and was rated by several services as the top athlete in Canada.

He made his way to Arizona Western this past fall even though he was a full-qualifier, and worked on his blocking skills, but still managed to post eight receptions for 67 yards and two scores while splitting time at the tight end spot for the Matadors.

He is expected to sign with the Longhorns soon and will enroll in time to participate in spring football.

Whiteley will have four years to play three starting this fall.
