Still Available: Blinn

Blinn was a bit down this past year, but with a new head coach in place, the direction has been set. Even though their 2013 season wasn't up their usual standards, the Bucs still had plenty of talented prospects on their roster. New defensive coordinator Thomas Rocco, a holdover from the old staff, spoke with JCFootball.com recently and he updated us on who is still looking for a home...

LB Ryan Flannigan - Flannigan remains committed to Kentucky, but he's had several. He is a bit light for a linebacker, but he is physical for his size. He only played in seven games this season.

2013 Stats: 22 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and three pass breakups

OG Donovan Williams - Stud offensive lineman that the Buccaneer coaching staff can't believe doesn't have more offers. Strong run-blocker with good feet. Can pull and get to the second level pretty easily. Will take a trip to Howard this weekend and is geting attention from Miami (Oh.).

TE Justin Chandler - A great tight end prospect with the size and athleticism to be a real factor in the red zone as a receiver. He's a really good blocker that can handle defensive ends when asked. Chandler had Florida State and Auburn looking at him during the season and has been getting attention from Utah State and Miami (Oh.) as well.

2013 Stats: 12 receptions for 126 yards

S/OLB Ken Butler - Butler had a huge season for the Bucs and was named a First Team All-American by the NJCAA. Can play the run well and is very good in coverage as well. With his size, probably a better fit at strong safety, but could play as a nickel linebacker in the right scheme. He's a redshirt freshman, so he could wind up returning to Blinn this coming fall, but if the right school comes along, he could enroll with them in the summer with three to play three. He's getting looks form Troy, Sam Houston State and Lamar right now, but more are expected to come in and look at him over the next few weeks.

2013 Stats: 73 tackles, 13 tackles-for-loss, seven forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries

OL Alex Mitchell - Very strong and aggressive at the point of attack. Signed with Washington State out of high school, but failed to qualify. Played tackle for Blinn, but looks to be a better fit inside at a one of the guard spots. He has offers from Idaho State and Houston Baptist, but the feeling is that more upper-division schools could get involved soon.

S Myles Curl - Curl can play either safety spot. He's a rangy prospect with good ball skills. He's gotten interest from Stephen F. Austin and a lot of SWAC and FCS programs are giving him attention.

2013 Stats: 57 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and four tackles-for-loss.

S Klartel Claridy - Great looking tailback who inexplicably only has an offer from Angelo State. He can run between the tackles or get outside and use his shiftiness to make guys miss.

2013 Stats: 149 carries for 945 yards and 14 touchdowns.
