Three Visits Set For McNair

Contra Costa DE Rondell McNair (6-4, 255) is a player who has seen his stock rise after a solid 2013 season. He updated recently about where things stand on the recruiting front including which four-year schools have offered as well as what his travel plans are over the next few weeks...

"It's been pretty crazy, but I've been figuring some things out," McNair told "I have offers right now from Arizona State, Wyoming, Western Kentucky, New Mexico, San Jose State, Troy and UNC-Charlotte.

"I'll visit New Mexico this weekend (January 17th), San Jose State on the 24th and ASU on the 31st. After that visit, I will make my decision and then sign with a school on February 5th."

Things were going rather slow during the summer before the start of the season, but then when McNair busted out with 32 tackles, six sacks and eight tackles-for-loss and was named to the All-Conference Team.

"I played strongside defensive end and I feel like rushing the quarterback is what I do best," he noted. "I'm fast for my size and I think that surprises a lot of people. I'm quick off the ball and I use my speed to my advantage.

McNair prepped at New Bern (NC) High School and enjoyed a solid career, however, he was unable to qualify, so he opted to move out west and enrolled at Contra Costa where he's gotten his academics in order and shown that he has what it takes to play at the next level.

"My coach out there (at New Bern) knew the coaches here and he said it would be a good place for me," McNair said. "It's been a little different getting used to the weather out here, but overall, it's been really good for me. I got out on my own and the coaches here are great about getting you ready for the next step in your career."

McNair is pace to graduate in May and he will have three years to play two starting this fall.
