Jones Already Drawing Lots Of Attention

As one of the more versatile JUCO defensive line prospects in the nation, Butler's Ulric Jones (6-7, 283) is drawing a ton of early attention. Three offers have come in already and more could be on the way in the very near future...

"I have offers right now from Jacksonville State, Mississippi State and Maryland and a bunch more schools are talking to me, but they haven't offered yet," Jones told JCFootball.com recently.

Those schools include Miami, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss.

"It's been a lot of schools talking to me and my coaches," Jones noted. "They all like me along the defensive line somewhere, but they like how versatile I am and how I can play almost anywhere."

As a freshman for the Grizzlies last season, Jones posted 19 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery while working into the rotation along the defensive line.

"I played both defensive end and defensive tackle," Jones said. "Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me where I play, I just want to play, but if I had to choose, I'd say that defensive tackle is what I prefer the most just because you can be more disruptive and you're right in the middle of things."

This offseason, the talented prospect said he's been working on his speed and quickness in anticipation of being asked to do a lot more this coming fall.

"I've been doing a lot of ladders, speed training and cone drills," Jones said. "I want to be more explosive off the ball and just cause as many problems as possible for the offense we're facing that week."

Jones is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two.
