FCS School Makes Move On Ferrat

One player still looking for a place to call home this fall is Pasadena DT Gus Ferrat (6-2, 285) and this weekend he will be visiting an FCS school that has already offered him a scholarship. JCFootball.com caught up with him recently to find out a little bit more about the recruiting process...

"Things are going good. I'll be visiting Nicholls State (this weekend) and they offered me a week or so ago," Ferrat told JCFootball.com recently. "They'd been showing me some interest, but it's sorta ramped up recently."

In addition to his offer and visit with Nicholls State, Ferrat has also heard from Oregon and Iowa State, but neither of those schools have offered.

As a sophomore last season, Ferrat played both interior spots for the Dons, posting 22 tackles, one sack, 2.5 tackles-for-loss and an interception.

"I played mainly the three-technique for us, but I can play over the nose too," Ferrat noted. "I feel more comfortable shading over the guard, so that's probably where I fit best, but I can play both if I am needed there."

Ferrat enjoyed a solid prep career at Burroughs High School in Burbank, California and he was a full-qualifier who earned all CIF honors his senior season.

"I was a defensive end and I was light, probably about 220 pounds or something like that," Ferrat recalled. "Schools really weren't after me, so I came here to Pasadena, mostly because of it's location, but I liked the coaches a lot and felt like they could get me ready to play at the next level.

"I gained over 60 pounds once I got here and that has really helped me a lot."

Ferrat will finish up his academic work in May and he will have three years to play two starting this fall.
