"Things have been going really well," Williams, a 6-2, 240-pounder, told JCFootball.com over the weekend. "Right now, I'm sorta just waiting on my transcripts to be evaluated by different schools.
"Arkansas wants to offer me right now to bring me in this fall, but they are evaluating my transcript to make sure I have what I need to get into the school.
"If not, there are a couple more schools that like me and want to evaluate me for this year too and then I have an offer from Idaho for 2015 already and a few more schools are close to offering me too."
Those other schools include Florida State, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Akron, Kentucky, Troy and Colorado as well as Arkansas, should he not get in this summer.
"Everyone likes me, but a lot of them just want to see how I'm doing from my academics and credits," Williams said. "I was a qualifier out of high school, but I didn't get my test scores, the qualifying ones, until really late in the process and by then, all of the schools that were looking at me had moved on."
As a freshman this past fall, Williams played at just over 210 pounds, but still managed to finish with a team-leading 85 tackles to go along with a sack, four tackles-for-loss and two fumble recoveries and he received honorable mention All-KJCCC honors.
"After the season, I started lifting and eating right and the weight just came on," Williams said. "I'm 240 now and I feel just as fast and quick as I was before, but I'm stronger and I think I am ready for whatever I am asked to do, whether it's here at Dodge City for another year or at a four-year program this fall."
Should Williams leave this summer to join the Razorbacks, he would have four years to play three seasons of football, but if he returns to Dodge City, he would wind up signing with a school in December and he would have three years to play two.
We will continue to keep tabs on Williams' progress through the remainder of the recruiting process and we will update news on him as it happens.
