Mayo Is Hawaii-bound

Laney CB Jamal Mayo (5-11, 185) waited a while before making the decision on where he will play in 2014, but he's decided to head to Hawaii to play for the Warriors and will enroll there in June...

"I have committed to Hawaii," a relieved Mayo told JCFootball.com shortly after making his decision. "It's paradise out there and the staff there was just what I was looking for in a place where I was going to play."

Mayo chose the Warriors over offers from Troy and Texas State.

As a freshman in 2012, Mayo started every game and finished with a team-leading five interceptions and eight passes defensed while also totaling 24 tackles and this past season he racked up 30 tackles, a team-leading five interceptions and five pass breakups as well as a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Mayo will graduate this month and plans to enroll at Hawaii next month in time to start summer workouts with his new teammates.
