DuPage CB Prospect Sees Lots Of Interest

After a solid freshman season, College of DuPage CB Brian Hanserd (6-2, 180) has gotten the attention of several four-year schools...

"I don't have any offers just yet, but Northern Illinois told me they were really close to deciding on an offer for me," Hanserd told JCFootball.com recently. "I've also talked to Kansas quite a bit and Purdue and Indiana too, but none of them seems close at this point although it's hard to tell sometimes."

Hanserd enjoyed a solid prep career Rockford (Il.) Boylan Catholic High School but when no schools came calling, he decided to head to DuPage to continue playing and hopefully find a home.

"I had some smaller schools looking at me, but no big-time schools were calling or ready to offer me," Hanserd noted. "I was looking around and after I met with the coaches, I really got a good feeling about DuPage. The coaches made the place feel like a family and I could tell the players were taken care of and the staff here made sure you got your degree first and then it was about football."

After a redshirt season in 2012, the talented defensive back posted 16 tackles and an interception while starting all 11 games.

"I had a good season, but I know I can play better," Hanserd said. "I want to get better at shedding blocks and a lot of that is technique, but also using my hands better and hitting the weights more. I also want to be a more physical tackler. I'm already pretty physical, but I definitely want to improve on that more."

Hanserd is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have two years to play two following the 2014 football season.
