Smith Commits To Kansas

Butler OL Will Smith informed JCFootball.com that he committed to Kansas last weekend while he was in Lawrence on his official visit...

"I committed there over the weekend," Smith told JCFootball.com. "I liked the fact that they were so close to home because I wanted to play in front of my family and friends, so that was a big thing for me."

Also helping the Jayhawks' cause was the fact that they are currently the only school that has offered Smith who projects at guard once he arrives on campus.

"They like me at guard and that's what I play here at Butler," Smith noted. "I like to be aggressive and get after guys, but I can also pass-protect well too, so I feel comfortable doing both (pass and run blocking)."

Smith was a full-qualifier out of high school, graduating from Shawnee (Ks.) Northwest back in 2012.

"I redshirted in 2012 and then played all of last year for us," Smith said. "I liked the staff here and felt like they were the best program in the country and that they would be able to get me moved on to the next level since I wasn't really recruited out of high school."

Smith plans to sign his letter-of-intent in December and he will have two years to play two following the 2014 football season.
