One of the top junior college running backs in the country is Chris Carson of Butler C.C. He holds a few offers already, with most of them coming in the last few months.
A big offer came his way today from a school nearby where he grew up.
"Georgia offered me," Carson said. "Coach McClendon is who I spoke to and he's their running backs coach. He gave me the offer. It's a big one for me. It's good to have an option to go back close to home."
"It's definitely exciting," he added about his new offer. "I grew up in Georgia. My parents can come see me play a lot if I choose to go there. That's something everybody looks for."
Carson is wasting no time checking out what the Bulldogs have to offer as he'll be on the campus visiting very soon.
"I grew up a fan of Georgia," he noted. "I grew up on all the Georgia teams. They didn't show me much interest in high school. I visited them in the last few weeks of my process but nothing ever came of it. I'll visit them this Saturday, though, and I'm looking forward to it."
"I just want to check out the campus and facilities," Carson continued. "I'll be watching a practice, too. It'll be cool to see how they operate and run things. They really wanted me to come down so I am."
A few other schools have been in regular communication with Carson as well.
"Iowa State is still in the mix," he pointed out. "They've still showed strong interest. I spoke to them the other day. I've also been speaking to Louisville regularly. They haven't offered yet and we really haven't spoke about one. They're just looking for a big-time running back and someone my size."
