"My offers right now are from Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, BYU, Utah, San Diego State, UAB and Wisconsin," Bateman told JCFootball.com.
In addition to those schools, USC, Georgia and LSU have been showing him quite a bit of interest but none of thrown their hat in the ring yet.
As a prep at Estancia (Ca.) High School, Bateman drew plenty of attention from colleges, but he didn't have the grades to get to a four-year school, so he had a decision to make.
"I could have gone to other schools, but with my o-line coach here, Doug Smith, he played for 14 years in the NFL with the (Los Angles) Rams with Jackie Slater and he was part of the line that holds the record for the most yards rushing with Eric Dickerson, so he had all of the credibility I needed," Bateman said. "I was like 'I could go somewhere else and play, but how can I pass up the chance to be taught by a former NFL coach who can coach me up to an NFL level, even higher than D-1 ball?'. It was an easy decision for me."
Even with all of those offers, Bateman has been working even harder this offseason, focusing on his strength as well as his footwork and technique.
"During the offseason, I was really focused on my strength and lifting and I really increased that a lot, but now that we're getting toward the season, it's all footwork, footwork, footwork and technique, technique, technique." Bateman noted. "I have quick feet, that's probably my biggest asset. I can handle the speed guys, but I need to make sure my footwork is there so I can handle whatever they throw at me."
Bateman said he knows he will visit Arizona State and Oklahoma State officially at some point, but he has yet to set the exact dates.
The talented lineman is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season.
