Two More Offers For Allen

Things on the recruiting front continue to hum along for Lackawanna TE Julian Allen (6-4, 235). The talented prospect hauled in two more offers over the past couple of weeks and he even took another official visit. JCFootball.com caught up with him recently and he updated us on where things stand...

"I just got an offer from Akron a couple of days ago and Florida Atlantic also offered me and I took an official visit there a couple of weeks ago," Allen told JCFootball.com. "It was a really good visit. I had a great time there, but I am still committed to South Alabama."

In addition to his most recent offers, Allen also holds offers from Eastern Michigan, UAB, Central Arkansas and Bethune-Cookman and he's continued to talk with South Carolina and Ohio State throughout the process.

Allen committed to the Jaguars back in June and while he is very happy with his decision, he made it clear that he still plans to take all five of his official visits.

"I'm still going to take all of my visits and keep my options open, but I am still really happy with my decision to commit to (South Alabama)," Allen noted.

As a freshman for the Falcons last fall, Allen only played in three games due to a broken fibula, so he managed to only post six receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.

That lack of productivity meant that he had to prove to coaches that he was back and could get it done at the next level.

"Right after the season, that's when I was cleared to start running again, so I'm back at 100% and I sorta blew up in the spring," Allen noted. "Schools got a look at me and what I could do and they really liked me a lot and that's when most of my offers came in."

Allen is on pace to graduate this December and he will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season.
