Henderson's Star Is On The Rise

Mt. San Jacinto TE Tyler Henderson (6-6, 240) has two offers as he prepares to start his sophomore season next weekend and more schools are eyeing his talents and could be getting into the mix once they get some more film on him...

"I just got an offer from UAB and I have had an offer from New Mexico for a little while," Henderson told JCFootball.com recently. "I actually took a visit to New Mexico back in December and I really liked it there, but I wasn't ready to sign so I came back (to Mt. San Jacinto) and I'll be here this fall."

In addition to the two schools that have offered, Henderson has been talking to several other programs including Oregon State, USC, Cincinnati, Akron, San Jose State, San Diego State and Idaho.

"I've been talking to Oregon State and lot and they seem to like me and USC has told me they are looking at me too," Henderson said. "I haven't set up any more visits to schools, but I will probably start doing that once schools start to see me and hopefully start offering."

As a freshman last fall, Henderson totaled nine receptions for 157 yards and two scores and he hopes to have an even better sophomore season.

"I think I've improved at everything," Henderson said. "My coaches like to split me out a lot and that's sort of the way that offenses are going nowadays, but I really like being on the end of the line and blocking. I have fun with it. I love to block down on defensive ends. I think it sort of surprises them because tight ends aren't on the end of the line as much as they used to be."

As far as his academics are concerned, Henderson is a good student and he's on pace to finish up his two year degree in December. He will have three years to play two following the 2014 football season.
