Top Performers - Running Backs

There were quite a few big performances from JUCO tailbacks last weekend, but none were better than Northwest Mississippi freshman Justin Crawford who was integral in the Rangers 34-29 win over Coahoma...

Northwest Mississippi RB Justin Crawford - The freshman tailback was the man for the Rangers in their 34-29 win over Coahoma, carrying the ball 35 times for a school record 338 yards and four touchdowns. So far this season, Crawford has rushed for 1,375 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s also been able to haul in 12 receptions for 306 yards as well.

Scottsdale ZaQuan Summer - Summers totaled 114 yards and a touchdown on the ground while also hauling in eight receptions for 147 yards and two more scores in the Artichokes’ 58-29 win over Mesa last weekend. Summers ranks second on the team with 22 receptions for 244 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 589 yards and four touchdowns while helping to lead his team to a 7-1 record.

Navarro RB Keaun Kinner - Kinner had 37 carries for 256 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 66-43 win over Blinn last Saturday. The sophomore tailback has carried the ball 223 times for 1,429 yards and 19 scores while also hauling in 15 receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown while leading Navarro to a 7-2 record.

Southwest Mississippi RB Chris Jones - Jones rushed for 170 yards and two scores, but the Bears still dropped their game with Hinds by a score of 31-30. The sophomore has shared carries this season, but he still leads the team with 981 yards and he ranks second with six touchdowns.

Fort Scott RB Devin Taylor - Taylor rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries for the Greyhounds in their 24-3 win over Independence last weekend. Taylor has had a huge freshman season, rushing for 1,528 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Coffeyville RB Alan Barnwell - Barnwell rushed for 195 yards and two scores in Coffeyville’s 49-24 win over Highland. This season the sophomore has rushed for 532 yards and four touchdowns while splitting carries in the Red Ravens’ backfield.

College of the Desert RB Vincent Guzman - Guzman helped lead the way the Road Runners’ fourth win by posting 123 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in COD’s 35-21 win over East Los Angeles.

San Diego Mesa RB Anastacio Romo - The freshman racked up 126 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, but Mesa fell short in their bid to beat San Bernardino Valley by a score of 36-33 in overtime.

Grossmont RB Thomas McDonald - In the Griffins’ 40-22 loss to Fullerton, McDonald racked up 152 yards and a score.

Hartnell RB Sherrod Hawkes - In Hartnell’s 44-29 win over Monterey Peninsula, the freshman totaled 21 carries for 182 yards and three touchdowns while also hauling in four receptions for 24 yards.

Fresno RB Jeremy Smith - The freshman tailback rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in the Rams’ 49-21 win over Chabot. This season, Smith has 672 yards and seven scores in seven games.

Merced RB Josh Stevens - Stevens rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown in Merced’s 43-14 win over Gavilan. In seven games, the freshman has rushed for 822 yards and seven scores.

Southwestern RB Diego Rodriguez - Ramirez carried the ball 17 times for 114 yards and two scores as the Jaguars downed Mt. San Jacinto in a 34-31 thriller.

Antelope Valley RB Ron Howard - Howard had 18 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown in AVC’s 50-25 loss to West Los Angeles.
