Wright Commits To Mountain West School

Blinn S Allan Wright (6-0.5, 185) talks about his decision to commit to Fresno State...

"I had a great trip to Fresno State this weekend and I committed before I left," a happy Wright told JCFootball.com. "I feel like it's a great home for me. I liked the coaches a lot and my position coach, coach (Jordan) Peterson played at Texas A&M with one of my coaches from high school and I felt really comfortable with him and there is a great opportunity for me to come in and play early there."

Wright chose the Bulldogs over offers from the likes of Georgia State, Tulsa, UAB, Lamar, Sam Houston State, Prairie View, Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State.

The sophomore free safety finished the 2014 football season by posting 48 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, one interception and four pass breakups.

"I can cover and be a ballhawk, but honestly, I love to be physical and hit," Wright said. "It's just the mentality I bring. I love contact and to hit when I get the chance."

As a prep at San Antonio's O'Connor High School, Wright went relatively unnoticed on the recruiting front so he decided to head to Blinn to see if he could garner more interest.

"I had (FCS) and D-2 offers, but I felt like I could play at a higher level," Wright said. "The coaches at Blinn were cool and I felt like it was the best program I could go to. I loved my visit here, so I just decided to come here and play."

Wright is on pace to finish up his academic work this month and he will have three years to play two starting in the fall of 2015
