Massey Discusses Early Recruiting

Holmes WR Dre Massey (6-0, 190) committed to East Carolina back in high school and told recently that he remains committed to the program, however, he also noted that he's keeping an open mind and waiting for bigger schools to come calling...

"I'm committed to ECU. I have been since high school," Massey told "I have got offers from Cincinnati, Memphis, Middle Tennessee and I'm waiting on the bigger schools."

With his size and sub-4.4 speed, Massey is a great looking receiver with the ability to get deep and that makes him a versatile playmaker with the ability to play several positions.

"All of the schools like me as a receiver primarily, but also as an athlete," Massey noted. "I can play anywhere I'm needed. I feel I have good hands, but I'm also a down the field guy, a big-play type of a receiver.

"One of the things I want to get better at is playing better without the ball," Massey noted. "Blocking, running my routes, stuff like that. I also want to get bigger. I was 174 pounds last year, so I've already put on some good weight."

As a freshman last season at Holmes, on a run-dominant team, Massey finished second on the team with five receptions for 64 and a touchdown.

Massey is on pace to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.
