"I just got an offer from Arizona," Iakopo told JCFootball.com. "I have been talking to Baylor, UCLA, California, Washington State, Louisville, Arizona State and Oregon State and there are a bunch of others that have been by our school, but those are the ones I am talking to the most."
Iakopo finished second on the team in tackles as a freshman last fall, totaling 60 while also posting six tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and six pass-breakups.
"What I do best is playing in the box," Iakopo noted. "I love to come up and be physical, hit guys and support the run. I'd definitely say that's what I do best.
"I'm pretty good in coverage too, but I want to improve on that aspect of my game.
"Everyone is looking for that dual-threat type of a safety and I want to do be that, so I am working on my overall game, but I am really focused on my drops into coverage, my footwork and stuff like that."
As a prep at powerhouse Mater Dei, Iakopo had plenty of schools looking his way, but he was unable to qualify for a scholarship, so he opted to sign with the Vikings.
"The coaches here recruited me and they said I could come in and compete for playing time and compete ever day to get better," Iakopo recalled. "I just loved their philosophy, how they teach and play the game here, and also just how much they care about their players."
Iakopo will finish up his academic work in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.
