"I have an offer from Arkansas State," Wilson told "I will be visiting there the 18th of July.

"(The Arkansas State coach) came to a spring practice and he said he automatically knew I could play at the next level, so they wanted to be the first one just in case I was to blow up."

In addition to his offer from the Red Wolves, Wilson has also been hearing from Ohio, Kansas State, Iowa State, Utah State and Southern Mississippi.

As a freshman last season, Wilson totaled 78 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, a sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery while playing the WIL (weak inside linebacker) in Hutch's 3-4 scheme.

"I feel like I make plays side-to-side very well and I also do a good job of avoiding traffic with the offensive line and getting blocked," Wilson noted.

This summer, Wilson has been hard at work improving some of the finer points of his game.

"Since I'm not the ideal linebacker size or height I have been trying to just keep getting faster and more explosive," Wilson said. "I have also been working on trying to use my hands better. I've been trying to become more of a leader for my team and I'm always improving on my footwork and coverage skills."

As a prep, Wilson was a solid producer at Wichita (Ks.) South High School, but he was unable to qualify for a scholarship to a four-year program, so he chose to attend the only school that showed they wanted him.

"Hutch was the only consistent contact I got and they shot it to me straight forward," Wilson recalled. "Everyone else just said they wanted me and would barely contact me, so I just felt Hutch was the overall best fit for me. It's a great program."

Wilson is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.
