Wimberly recently hauled in his first offer.

"I got offered by Ohio," Wimberly told JCFootball.com. "I have also been talking to Memphis, Georgia Southern and South Dakota.

"Memphis and Georgia Southern invited me down to go to their camps."

As a freshman last season, Wimberly totaled 41 tackles, two sacks, three tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and an interception.

With his quickness and very good speed, Wimberly is a force to be reckoned with from either outside linebacker spot.

"I'm an all-around linebacker," Wimberly noted. "I'm versatile. I can be a pass-rusher and I can also drop back and cover.

"I feel like my speed and quickness helps me a lot in pass rushing but I think my instincts and reaction is the best on the field."

This offseason, Wimberly has devoted his time to getting stronger while also honing some of the finer points of his overall game.

"I mainly want to gain a few more pounds and continue to get better at using my hands," Wimberly said. "From last season to spring, I've improved on both of those already."

As a prep, Wimberly enjoyed a solid career at Westover High School in Albany, Georgia and he is an excellent student, however, he spent most of his time with his hand on the ground and that led him to try and prove himself at Georgia Military.

"I played defensive end and I was undersized," Wimberly said. "Now I've made the transition to linebacker.

"I felt like I could play on the Division One level and I felt like GMC would be my best bet and the best place for me."

Wimberly was a full-qualifier out of high school, but will stay at GMC for one more season and he will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.
