Richards Is A Bookend Tackle To Watch
"I have offers right now from Oklahoma State and Idaho," Richards told JCFootball.com recently. "I have also been hearing from Oklahoma, Louisville, North Texas, San Diego State, Arizona, Arizona State and New Mexico State and a couple of smaller schools -- Virginia Union and Fairmouth State."
As a freshman last fall, Richards held down the left tackle spot for the Broncos, using his outstanding size and athleticism to thwart pass-rushers.
"I feel like, in slid protection, that is where I excelled last season," Richards said. "I have really improved a lot since last season. I have been working on my hand-speed, being more explosive, my foot-speed, my footwork, dropping my hips, my overall balance and also my upper body strength."
As a prep in Canada, Richards was unable to qualify, so he headed to the one program that had everything he was looking for -- academics, good football and a staff focused, not just on him as a player, but also as a person.
"I chose New Mexico Military because of the rules and values the school carries the things you go though there will help you when you get to the next level," Richards noted. "The education is second-to-none in the JUCO world and also they have a good football program that ran by coach Joe Forchtner and his staff."
Richards is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in May of 2016 and he will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.
