"I have offers from Arkansas State and South Alabama," Sanders told "I have also been talking to Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, Indiana and Utah State, but none of them have offered me yet."

Sanders, who transferred from Mississippi Gulf Coast to Highland this spring, took an official visit to Arkansas State last weekend and ran into future teammate Troy Grant.

"It was a good visit," Sanders noted. "We had a great time."

Sanders said he also is planning to take an unofficial visit to Southern Miss next week as well.

As a redshirt freshman last season, Sanders started every game at defensive end and finished with 36 tackles, two sacks, three tackles-for-loss and three pass breakups, using his size and athleticism to be a real playmaker up front.

"I'm probably at my best as a pass-rusher," Sanders said. "For my size, I'm pretty quick and I know a lot of moves and I use a lot of them from my defensive end position."

While he's made the move to Highlands, Sanders has also been focused on improving as a player, working on his speed and "get off".

"I've been working on a lot my my speed," Sanders said. "I've been doing agility and speed drills, working on my explosiveness out of my stance so I have a faster get off and just coming off the line hard."

As a prep at La Grange High School, Sanders had plenty of offers, but he was unable to qualify, so he decided to head to Mississippi Gulf Coast.

"The Auburn coaches liked me and helped guide me to Gulf Coast because they have a good program there," Sanders noted. "I got in some trouble, so I decided to move up to Kansas to play for Highlands just to get away from things and just so I could concentrate on football and school."

Sanders is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have two years to play two following the 2015 football season.
