Jackson Now Up To Four Offers

Iowa Western DT Merrick Jackson (6-3, 300) received his fourth offer recently...

JCFootball.com has been able to confirm that Jackson recently received an offer from UAB.

The offer is Jackson's fourth, joining the three he already had from Illinois, Iowa State and Troy.

As a freshman last season for the Reivers, Jackson posted 52 tackles, five sacks, 10.5 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and an interception.

"No one is pushing me off the line and I can take up double team but I also like to think I win the majority of my (pass-rush) one-on-ones so, I don't know, I'm probably better versus the run, but I can still get to the quarterback," Jackson told JCFootball.com this spring.

Jackson has been hard at work getting his academics in order and he's on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December. He will have three years to play two following the 2015 football season.

Jackson was a sought-after prospect after he finished his prep career at Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, Il., signing with the home-state school.

"I committed to Illinois out of high school and didn't qualify so they told me I should come to Iowa Western," Jackson said. "I liked the staff here and they get a lot of guys out (to four year programs), so I'm glad I made the choice to come here."
