First Offer In The Books For Branch

Trinity Valley DE Desmond Branch (6-4, 265) received an offer from UAB recently and more could be on the way...

"I just received an offer from UAB," Branch told JCFootball.com. "I have also been hearing from Memphis, Iowa State and a little bit from Arizona. I have also heard from Southern Mississippi and Colorado."

Branch comes from great bloodlines. His brother Alan Branch was a standout at Michigan and he's spent the past eight seasons with four NFL teams.

As a prep in New Mexico, the younger Branch signed with his local school, but after redshirting there in 2014, he felt it was time to make the move to explore other opportunities.

"I just didn't feel like I could stay there," Branch said. "I felt like I got overlooked in the recruiting process because of where I was from and I just felt like, if I went to a program like Trinity Valley here, I could get more schools to look at me.

"The program here is great. They have great coaching and a strong, winning program and I liked the opportunity to play here."

In two games so far this season, while rotating through the TVC defensive line, Branch has posted two tackles and a tackle-for-loss while playing strongside defensive end.

"I can stop the run pretty well," Branch told JCFootball.com back in the summer. "I worked out with my brother a lot this past summer on my strength and my quickness."

Branch is on pace to finish up his academic work in December and he will have three years to play three following the 2015 football season.
