2016 Highland CB Montavious Smoke has several options to choose from as we head into the final weeks of the recruiting process

2016 Highland CB Montavious Smoke (6-0, 196) has several options available to him, but he's still keeping an open mind in the recruiting process and he hopes to make a decision in the next few weeks as more schools begin to pick up interest in his services...

"My offers so far are from UAB, UNLV, Northern Iowa, Tennessee Martin and Tennessee State and I also have a few D-2 schools that have offered as well," Smoke told JCFootball.com recently. "I've already visited UAB and Oregon State and UNC-Charlotte is also targeting me."
Smoke worked his way into Highland's deep secondary rotation and posted seven tackles and one interception while playing in just four games due to a hamstring injury.
"I'm all healed up now, but I injured it in the first game of the season and then I had to let it heal up so it was healthy and once I got back I played the last couple games of the season," Smoke noted. "I'm a physical corner. I like to play man-to-man, but the defense we ran at Highland was mostly zone, so I really had to work on that and I feel like I improved on that as the season went along."
As a prep at Stanhope Elmore (Milbrook, Al.) High School, Smoke was a highly coveted recruit, eventually signing with Troy, however, he was unable to qualify academically, so he began a journey that has taken him to three junior colleges over the past 30 months.
"Troy sent me to Butler and I went there and they redshirted me," Smoke noted. "I had some family stuff come up, so I headed to Kilgore and I played there last year.
"Then, I came up here to Highland and was here this season."
Because he's transferred a few times, Smoke still needs 25 credits to graduate and he's got a full load of academic work to focus on this spring while he also needs to figure out where he will play this coming fall.
"My journey has been pretty crazy, but I'm focused on what I need to do and I am hoping to find the right place for myself here pretty quickly," Smoke said.
Smoke should finish up all of his academic work in May and he will have two years to play two starting this fall.
