"I currently have offers from Purdue, Southern Utah, Buffalo, Louisiana-Monroe and Eastern Illinois," Winston told JCFootball.com. "I took a visit to Purdue back in December and I'm visiting Louisiana-Monroe this weekend and then Southern Utah the last weekend of the month."
As a redshirt sophomore this past season, Winston finished with 21 tackles and he finished fourth in the state with seven interceptions.
"I'm a press corner, but I can play both pretty well," Winston said. "In high school, I played quarterback and receiver, so that helped me understand routes and how to counter moves and stuff like that. I also am good at jamming guys off the line, not letting them run their route smoothly and then when the ball is in the air, my ball skills are pretty good and a lot of that is because I played receiver too."
As a prep at legendary Dominguez (Compton, Ca.) High School, Winston had several offers, but he was one class short of qualifying so he decided to head to Compton to get his academics in order and to keep playing football.
"Compton was the closest school to home, so that's a big reason I ended up here," Winston noted. "I wasn't a qualifier and I wanted to keep playing, so it was the best option for me."
Winston is on pace to finish up his coursework this spring and he will have two years to play two starting this fall.
JCFootball.com will continue to keep tabs on Winston as he nears his decision and we will report any breaking news when it happens.
