"Right now I have offers from South Dakota and Southern Illinois," Federick told JCFootball.com recently. "I also have talked with Eastern Kentucky and South Florida, but so far, neither of those schools have offered.
"Eastern Kentucky said they know what I can do and they like me. They just need to do some further evaluations.
"USF also likes me, but the coaches need to sit down and talk and then things should be smooth after that."
Federick worked into the Grossmont backfield rotation this past season, finishing with over 350 yards and five touchdowns.
"I really like to run between the tackles," Federick said. "I can make guys miss and I have good vision, so I can see the hole and get outside and hit it hard, but mostly, I like to run between the tackles."
As a prep at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, Federick enjoyed a solid career, but he was unable to qualify, so he headed to Hutchinson in Kansas, before makingt he move to Grossmont this past season.
"I just felt like I need to leave and start fresh," Federick said. "I liked the staff here and they have a good reputation for getting guys moved on to four-year schools, so I just thought it was the right place for me."
Federick is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in May and he will have three years to play three starting this fall.
