2017 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M TE Mike'Quan Deane talks recruiting and where things stand

2017 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M TE Mike'Quan Deane (6-4, 240) spoke with JCFootball.com recently and ran down where things stand on the recruiting front and what school he'll be visiting this coming weekend...

Deane currently holds offers from Colorado State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, South Alabama, Syracuse, UAB and UCF and he's been hearing from a couple of other programs as well.

"The main ones I am hearing from are South Florida, South Carolina and Oregon," Dean told JCFootball.com. "I'm actually visiting South Florida for their spring game on April 16th.

"They are showing me interest and I'm paying my own way up there to check them out."

As a freshman for the Golden Norsemen last season, Dean finished with 14 receptions for 128 yards and three scores while playing a more traditional tight end role.

"I was on the end of the line with my hand on the ground most of the time last season," Dean said. "I actually really liked doing that a lot because I love to block and pancake guys, but I also love to run routes and get one-on-one matchups with safeties and linebackers."

This offseasn, Dean has been hard at work perfecting his craft, working on the things that will help him be the most complete tight end he can be.

"Footwork, catching the ball, speed, I'm literally working on everything," Dean said. "I'm out running, lifting, catching passes, stuff like that, every day."

Dean enjoyed a solid prep career at Tulsa (Ok.) Memorial High School, but he was unable to qualify, so he decided to sign with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M to continue playing ball and getting his academics in order.

"The main thing was because it was close to home, but they also have a great tradition here and I wanted to be part of it," Dean recalled.

Dean is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have two years to play two following the 2016 football season.
