"I was there on an unofficial visit. I drove up from my home in Florida," Easley told JCFootball.com. "When I committed, they were just as happy as I was.
"I just felt like it was the best fit for me. A whole season off (UAB won't begin playing until 2017) to perfect our craft and get in the best shape possible sounds great to me!"
In addition to his offer from the Blazers, Easley also had offers from Idaho, Massachusetts, Eastern Michigan and Texas-San Antonio and he was getting a lot of attention from North Texas, UCF, Georgia State and Georgia Southern.
As a sophomore last season for the Red Ravens, Easley posted 40 tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks from his defensive tackle spot.
He is set to sign with UAB in August and he will have three years to play two starting in 2017.
