Two Offers And Counting For Clemons

Even though he has yet to take a snap in a college football uniform, 2017 Cisco DE Micheal Clemons (6-6, 240) has two early offers and more schools could be close to jumping into the mix...

"I have offers right now from Middle Tennessee State and UCF," Clemons told recently. "I have a lot of schools talking to me. The main ones are Utah StateKansas StateSMUTulsaUABAlabamaMissouriMassachusetts and Texas Tech, but there are a lot of other ones too."

Clemons redshirted his first year at Cisco, something that has allowed him to focus on getting better as both a player and a student.

"I'm that guy who can use his size advantage well and I have good technique," Clemons said. "A big thing for me has been working on some new pass-rush moves, making sure I bend that edge well so I can get to the quarterback and also dropping into coverage.

"That's something I haven't done that much of, but I need to be able to do it playing the position they have me playing now."

That position is the hybrid defensive end/linebacker spot that has become so en vogue in both the college and pro game.

"I just love rushing the quarterback," Clemons said. "I have a good motor and my size really allows me to cause problems."

As a prep at Sachse (Tx.) High School in 2014, Clemons was a promising recruit with lots of interest from schools, however, he suffered an injury early in his senior season and that derailed his plans.

"I tore my groin in the first game of my senior season," Clemons recalled. "After that, interest sorta dried up.

"I also was unable to get qualified, so that sorta got me looking around for an opportunity at a JUCO program and Cisco had seen me and asked me to come to their camp.

"I worked out for them and a couple of weeks later, they called and said they had a place for me here."

Since he redshirted last year, Clemons will play this season for Cisco and then will graduate in May and he will have three years to play three following the 2016 football season.
