Newton announced the offer from Ohio on his Twitter page recently.
"They just said that they felt I fit into the system that they run," Newton told JCFootball.com.
In addition to his offer from the Bobcats, Newton has also been getting interest from Texas State.
"I play right tackle," Newton said. "Last year, I started one game, but I played in all of the other games and rotated in.
"I have always been a better pass-blocker but over the years I have been improving on my run-blocking. I have always had good feet."
As a prep, Newton enjoyed a solid career at Klein (Tx.) High School and when he didn't qualify, he decided to head to Blinn.
"When I took my visit here I had really liked it and so far I haven't changed my mind about it," Newton added.
The talented lineman is on pace to finish up his two-year degree in May and he will have three years to play two following the 2016 football season.
