Coahoma offensive coordinator Moses Harper informed JCFootball.com late Monday night that Nelson has received an offer from West Virginia.

The offer is the first for the talented defensive back who finished with 41 tackles and a team and nation-leading eight interceptions as a freshman last season and was named a First Team All-American for his efforts.

As a prep coming out of Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, Nelson signed with Florida, but he was unable to qualify and he eventually ended up at Coahoma.

Nelson is set to graduate in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2017 football season.
