Schools Are Coming After Lolohea

2018 Copiah-Lincoln DL Jonathan Lolohea (6-3, 310) is one of the hottest JUCO recruits in the country and he recently updated on where things stand...

"I have offers right now from ArizonaOregon StateIowa StateColorado StateFresno StateSan Jose StateSouthern MississippiLouisiana-Lafayette and Kansas just offered me today," Lolohea said. "I have also been talking a lot with OregonUtahOklahoma State and Syracuse.

"I haven't really set up anything to go visit a school yet, but I know I'd like to get up to Oregon State at some point this spring or summer. I'll need to fit it in, but that's a trip I want to make."

As a freshman this past fall, Lolohea, who was at Los Angeles Valley, used his size and quickness to play both defensive end and defensive tackle to post 11 tackles, 5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks while working his way into the Monarch's defensive line rotation.

"I played end when we were in a 3-4 and I played tackle when we went to a 4-3," Lolohea said.  "I'm quick for my size and I am able to see blocks and react off of them. I took a lot of double teams and triple teams due to me being the biggest on our defensive line."

Following the completion of the fall quarter, Lolohea made the tough decision to head east to Mississippi where he enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln.

"Valley was great to me," Lolohea noted. "The coaches were great, the program was top notch and we played some really good teams and talent every week, but in the end, it was just hard to do it financially since I was from out-of-state (Hawaii).

"Financially, it just made sense to come out here and I had a really great bond with my position coach (Otis Yelverton) so it sorta came down to East Mississippi, Arizona Western and Copiah-Lincoln and I just felt more comfortable here (at Co-Lin)."

As noted earlier, Lolohea prepped in Hawaii, but he was was unable to get qualified, so he decided to take the JC route.

Lolohea is set to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2017 football season.
