The offer from Syracuse joins the ones McKinney already had from Iowa StateOklahomaOregon and TCU.

As a freshman for the Reivers last season, McKinney held down the left tackle spot for all but one game and he acquitted himself well.

"Coaches tell me I have great footwork for a guy my size," McKinney noted. "I'm also a lot more flexible that most lineman out there. My best ability about being on the O-line is my run blocking."

While he's already pretty accomplished as a prospect, McKinney knows he has some work do to to get to where he wants to be.

"I definitely need to work on keeping my hips more closed in my pass-set, that's for sure," McKinney said. "I also want to work on foot speed so I can get to the quicker defenders."

As a prep at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois, McKinney was a sought-after prospect, but he was unable to get qualified, so he decided to look around for the best JUCO program he could find. Enter Iowa Western.

"I really liked the rich tradition of winning and the chance at getting the most exposure in the country," McKinney recalled.

The talented lineman will finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2017 football season.
