Gerald announced his newest offer earlier this weekend on his Twitter page.
As a freshman last season, Gerald led his team in sacks (12) and tackles-for-loss (24) and finished second on the team with 54 tackles.
My first step off the ball is my advantage and coaching. We watch enough film during the week that when we play, I already know my opponents weaknesses," Gerald noted. "I'm a good pass rusher so I prefer to be on the edge and I usually am, but my coaches put me there cause of my speed. I play wherever I have to along the defensive line to put us in the best position to win.
"Our coaches also really give us all the tools to be successful we just have to work and when the game comes, we just need to know our jobs and have fun and play fast."
Gerald enjoyed a very nice prep career at West Florence (SC) High School, but he was unable to qualify, so when he went to decide where he would continue his academic and football pursuits, a 2,500 mile move west made the most sense.
"I had a really good relationship with Coach (Ted) Iacenda and he made me and my family comfortable with coming," Gerald said.
Gerald is set to finish up his two-year degree in December and he will have three years to play two following the 2017 football season.
