On Tuesday, Howard headed to College Station to visit Texas A&M.
"It was a really great visit," Howard told JCFootball.com after returning home. "I got a chance to spend a lot of time with the coaches, especially coach (Ron) Cooper and it was really great getting to know him better.
"We just wanted a lot of film and talked a lot. I felt really, really comfortable there."
Was there some thought to commit while he was on campus.
"Yeah, I definitely wanted to do it, but I wanted to come home and talk to my family about it first," Howard said. "I have already talked to my mom, but I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with my dad and that will happen here either tomorrow or over the weekend.
In addition to his offer from the Aggies, Howard also has offers from Mississippi, Charlotte, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Ohio, Southern Mississippi and Mississippi Valley State and there are a couple of other schools that are working on him to visit.
"Louisville just started talking to me and they want me to visit and Rutgers and Ole Miss, Arizona State all want me to visit, but they haven't set up dates yet," Howard noted. "The problem is, none of them have called me and set up the visit date yet and it's getting down to the wire because I need to decide soon, so if they want me to visit, then I need to set it up really quick here."
As a redshirt freshman last season, Howard finished with 19 tackles and two fumble recoveries while working his way into the lineup for the Pirates.
Howard is set to finish up his two-year degree next month and he will have three years to play two starting this fall.
