JC Grid-Wire Top 25 (9-16-03)

SANTA ANA, Calif. – College of Canyons used an overtime 21-16 victory over No. 11 ranked Palomar to vault in to first place in the weekly J.C. Grid-Wire rankings. Last week's leader, Coffeyville, Kans. had a healthy 37-14 win over Independence, but Canyons' back-to-back triumphs over Pasadena and Palomar helped the Cougars edge out the Red Ravens for first.

With the season so young it takes an unbeaten record to rank in the nation's top 25, at least for right now. Six teams fell from the rankings after losses last week, although it is likely all of them will reappear.
