It took the Vikings one quarter to adjust to the 104 degree heat. Phoenix led 3-0 at the end of the first period, then stood stunned as the Vikings reeled off 27 points in the second quarter. Leading 14-10, Ricks scored twice in the final 1:11 of the second period to lead 27-10 at the half. Ricks added 23 more in the third, and closed with 14 in the fourth.
Quarterback Robbie Haas threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth. Late in the third quarter, Luke Knuppenburg took over and ran for two TD's while throwing for a third. Jon Clark caught nine passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, and Brantley Oakey added 209 all purpose yards.
The defense was led by the D-Line that forced Phoenix QB Vince Fiori into bad passes and haunted Bears receivers into numerous drops.
