Reedley, CA- In dramatic fashion, the Sacramento City College football team came from behind late in the fourth-quarter, erasing a 12-point deficit to defeat Reedley College 54-46.
After a relatively calm first half of play by both teams, that saw Reedley go into halftime with a 12-7 lead, the two teams came out in the second half and traded score for score in racking up 81 combined points. Producing the highest point total this season, SCC racked up eight touchdowns on 498 points of total offense. Together both teams had over 1,000 yards of total offense in the game.

SCC answered with an 81-yard, 6 play drive of their own, capped by a 27-yard touchdown scatter by wide-out Joe Pierce. And after forcing Reedley to punt on their next possession, Sac City quickly scored again. On the first play, quarterback Lamar Lee connected with Joe Pierce for a 93-yard touchdown pass that put SCC ahead 21-19.
However, as far as both offenses were concerned, this game was just getting started.
The Tigers rebounded as quarterback Charles Radford connected with wide-out Jeffrey Harmon for a 16-yard touchdown score.
The Panther's Kevin Swanigan took the ensuing kick-off 96 yards for a score, and put SCC back on top 28-26.
But with: 28 left in the quarter, the Tigers countered as Vince Copeland hauled in a 16-yard throw from Hardmon.
With Anthony Moody's 1-yard touchdown run in the opening drive of the fourth quarter, Reedley went up 12-points (40-28) and thought they had put pressure on SCC.
However, Sac City's effective offense answered the challenge and kept producing points. This time, L. Lee found Pierce wide open for a 40-yard score. Less than four minutes later (4:48) L. Lee hooked-up with wide receiver Phil Goodman for a 47-yard score, to put SCC ahead 41-40.
Reedley regained the lead when Hardmon threw his third touchdown pass of the game, connecting with Copeland for a 15-yard strike.
Again, having to put the team on their backs, the offense stepped up. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, L. Lee commanded a 4-play drive that took the team 60-yards and was capped by a 9-yard touchdown toss to Goodman with a 1:23 left.
With little over a minute left in the game, Reedley managed to take their last drive of the game to the SCC 31-yard line, and with :06 on the clock they lined up for what would have been a 43-yard game-winning field goal. However, a bad snap rolled the ball to kicker Caleb Hunter and was scoped up by SCC defensive end Ishmael Thrower, who returned it 72-yards, for a score as time expired.
Leading the Panthers- Lamar Lee threw for 373 yards and 4 touchdowns, Joe Pierce caught 6 balls for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 1 touchdown, Phil Goodman also had 2 receiving touchdowns, Ishmael Thrower had a 72-yard fumble recovery.
