Western State Conf. Players of the Week (11/3/03)

Western State Conference top offensive honorees for 11/3/03 are Glendale QB David Parker; Bakersfield QB Justin Heimiller; LA Southwest QB Brian Johnson; and Citrus RB Quinton Ganther. Defensive honorees are LA SW linebacker Brandon Souder; Allan Hancock LB Chris Nunez. Here are some of the other top performers and their stats.




Devin Hollins, a 6-2 200 lb. freshman from Crenshaw High School, completed 27 of 55 passes for 489 yards and 5 TDs with 1 interception. He also carried 10 times for 84 yards.


Jason Beck had an outstanding game for the Cougars. Jason completed 17 of 24 passes for 319 yards and 3 TDs with 0 interceptions. He also carried 7 times for 73 yards. Jason is a 6-2 205 lb. sophomore from Hueneme High School.                   


Thomas Brown caught 5 passes for 65 yards and 2 TDs, he carried 2 times for 7 yards, he returned 4 kickoffs for 118 yards and he returned 2 punts for 69 yards and 1 TD giving him 259 all-purpose yards. Thomas is a 5-9 160 lb. freshman from Hawthorne High School.


John Radney carried 24 times for 199 yards and 2 TDs.




Domata Peko had a great game for the Cougars in their 44 to 10 victory over Ventura. Domata had 7 tackles (3 unassisted), 1.5 sacks and 1 pass break up. Domata is a 6-4 280 lb. sophomore from Samoana High School in American Samoa.


Martin Miller had a great effort for the Raiders in their 34 to 21 victory over Santa Barbara. Martin had 7 tackles (4 unassisted), 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and 1 pass break up. Martin is a sophomore from McMary, Oregon.


TREVOR BRACKETT (Canyons) caught 5 passes for 126 yards.
JOSH CUMMINGS (Canyons) was 5 of 5 on extra points and 3 for 3 on field goals including a 44 yarder.
QUINTON GANTHER (Citrus) carried 29 times for 229 yards and 3 TD's.
CHRIS GREENWADE (Citrus) caught 4 passes for 124 yards and 2 TD's.
GREG MORRIS (Moorpark) carried 24 times for 140 yards.
JASON NAPOLEAN (Moorpark) carried 13 times for 71 yards and he returned a kickoff 96-yards for a TD.
TATUA HOWELL-REED (Moorpark) had 9 tackles (6 unassisted).
LUCIOS SLOAN (Allan Hancock) carried 8 times for 79 yards.
TREVOR SHAMBLEE (Allan Hancock) had 7 tackles.
MIKE SLAUGHTER (Allan Hancock) had 6 tackles.
GREG DUTRA (Allan Hancock) had 5 tackles.
CHRIS PEA PEA (Moorpark) had 7 tackles (5 unassisted).
SOLOMON JONES (West L.A.) caught 4 passes for 154 yards and 4 TD's.
LAMARK HENDERSON (West L.A.) caught 8 passes for 119 yards and 1 TD, he returned 5 kickoffs for 116 yards and he intercepted a pass which he returned 40 yards.
STEVE JACKSON (Ventura) had 6 unassisted tackles and 1 assist.
CORTEZ SWANIGAN (Ventura) had 6 unassisted tackles and 1 assist.
JOHNNY BENTLEY (West L.A.) carried 23 times for 162 yards and 3 TD's.
TIM WILLIAMS (West L.A.) graded out 94% on his blocking assignments.
DELRAY YARBOUGH (Ventura) had 5 unassisted tackles.
EDMUNDO AVALOS (West L.A.) graded out 93% on his blocking assignments.
JOE HARRIS (L.A. Harbor) carried 16 times for 92 yards and 1 TD, he caught 1 pass for 14 yards and he returned 2 kickoffs for 100 yards giving him 206 all-purpose yards.
FRANCISCO LAINEZ (West L.A.) had 8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.
BRIAN JOHNSON (L.A. Southwest) completed 19 of 36 passes for 196 yards and 1 TD.
DONALD BELL (L.A. Southwest) caught 5 passes for 79 yards and 1 TD.
CHRIS SINGLETON (L.A. Southwest) carried 18 times for 107 yards and 1 TD.
ZACK JONES (Glendale) had 9 unassisted tackles, 5 assists and 1 interception.
ANDRE MOORE (Glendale) had 3 unassisted tackles and 3 assists.
DAVID KASBARIAN (Glendale) had 1 unassisted tackle, 5 assists and 1 sack.
PRESTON MALONEY (Santa Barbara) completed 21 of 38 passes for 215 yards and 1 TD.
HERBIE SMITH (Santa Barbara) caught 7 passes for 103 yards.
MIKE CONWAY (Santa Barbara) had 12 tackles (9 unassisted).
JOHN TUTTLE (East L.A.) completed 18 of 36 passes for 219 yards and 3 TD's.
ZAVEN PARONIAN (East L.A.) caught 5 passes for 76 yards.
DANNY CHRISTENSEN (Santa Barbara) had 15 tackles (6 unassisted).
JOE ARTIS (L.A. Southwest) had 5 unassisted tackles, 4 assists and 1 hurry.
DON DANIELS (L.A. Valley) returned a kickoff 97 yards for a TD which tied a school record.
ALEX JONES (Santa Barbara) had 18 tackles (11 unassisted).
BILLY SEWELL (West L.A.) had 10 tackles, 3 hurries and 1 sack.
BRYAN ALBERTY (L.A. Pierce) carried 3 times for 18 yards, he caught 5 passes for 52 yards and he returned 4 kickoffs for 132 yards giving him 202 all-purpose yards, plus he completed a 21-yard pass.
EDWIN REED (L.A. Pierce) had 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 2 hurries as Edwin played on both sides of the ball.
SIAVE SETI (West L.A.) had 9 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.
ROGER DALEY (L.A. Pierce) carried 5 times for 91 yards.
