NW Mississippi Wins Over Holmes

GOODMAN – The No.7-ranked Northwest Rangers took advantage of a Bulldog turnover late in the first quarter and never looked back defeating the homestanding Bulldogs 17-0 here Thursday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in the North Division while the Rangers went to 5-1 and 2-1 in the North.

Antoine Kimble intercepted Bulldog freshman quarterback Shelton Richardson with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter at the 17 and returned the ball to the one before Ranger running back Sherron Moore scored with 41 seconds remaining in the quarter. Brent Smith's kick put the Rangers up 7-0.

The Rangers tacked on a 42-yard field goal from Smith with 4:12 remaining in the third quarter.

Northwest scored their last touchdown midway the fourth quarter when quarterback Bobby Robison found Ty Freeman from six yards out. Smith's kick ended the scoring at 17-0 with 6:12 left in the game.

The Bulldogs travel to Scooba next Saturday to play East Mississippi Community College. Game time is 2 p.m.
