2004 Erie Schedule & Changes in the NFC

January 14, 2004 - The Erie Community College released its 2004 football schedule today filled with changes as it presses toward dominance in the Northeast Conference. First, the Northeast Conference itself has undergone a major change as it adds a Conference Championship game.

The conference will have a new look as SUNY-Canton has dropped football and Nassau Community College has been added to fill the Northstars slot.

The Conference will now be spit into two divisions: East and West. Erie, Alfred State and Morrisville State will play in the West and Dean Junior College, Hudson Valley and Nassau will compete in the East. Each team will play each team in their division twice, home and away and cross over to play the other division once. The seven conference games will then be followed by a post-season title game played Saturday November 13, 2004.

The conference change will eliminate Conference Championship ties as the Title has been split twice in the last three years. Erie was co-champion in 2001 and 2003.

As for Erie's schedule, they will face three bowl participants from 2003. Erie will face Hudson Valley Community College, Georgia Military and Ellsworth Community College. Hudson and Ellsworth played each other in the Graphic Edge/Sigler Bowl in Iowa with Ellsworth winning 29-23 in double overtime. Georgia Military lost in the Sea Island Bowl 27-21 to Snow College.

"With the addition of Ellsworth, we have a schedule that will provides us with quality opponents that will make the difference come bowl time. Ellsworth, Hudson Valley, Georgia Military, Nassau, Lackawanna and Morrisville State were all ranked at one time last year and will give us one of the toughest schedules in the country," stated head coach Dennis Greene.
